Cell Tower |
Location
and Description |
Carriers |
Located on South Willow Street, across Rt 101 from the Mall of New Hampshire is this tower. It has been here for as long as I can remember, with a variety of carriers over the years. Currently it has 5 providers on it. |
Almost all of them |

Located south of exit 7 on the east
side of Rt 93 is this monopole. It's been here for a number of years
(like since about 1996 or so), and the antenna types have changed over
the years. |

Located just east of Route 93 North at the Route 101 intersection (between Route 93 Exits 6 and 7) is this tower. More field tests and site exploration required in the future. |

Located on Route 93 just south of the Rt 101 intersection at mile marker 17 is this tower. Unknown carriers as field tests were not conducted. |

Located west of exit 8 off Rt 93,
off Mammoth road up on the hill is this old tower which has been here
for many a moons. Field tests show that Verizon Wireless is the cell
array installed, along with other microwave and omnidirectional antennas. |

Located on Smyth Road on the top of the big hill just behind the VA Hospital is this old water tower. Back in 1995, the only carrier on this tower was U.S. Cellular. Since then, many more have joined up. This site has a very nice vantage point over Route 93 as well as much of Eastern Manchester. Notice the big paddle antenna array. My guess is that U.S. Cellular (800Mhz TDMA / AMPS) is using this antenna type for this site. Field tests confirm all of the carriers noted here, except that of Nextel which is an educated guess as the last carrier. |

On top of the Verizon main offices and CO building rooftop located on Elm Street in downtown Manchester is this array, a couple of microwave dishes, and various omnidirectional antennas. My guess, and from field tests, show that this array is for Verizon Wireless. |

Unknown building and address in downtown
Manchester off/near Elm Street, but is has some antennas on the rooftop
sides. |

Well, again, another unknown building in downtown Manchester with a side mounted antenna array near the roof line. Unknown carrier. |

Hard to see, but left of the green light hanging off the side of the roof line of the Center of New Hampshire building located at 650 Elm Street in downtown Manchester is this antenna array. Field tests in the past have show that this is a T-Mobile site. But to find a green light on Elm Street is priceless! |

Located on 1650 Elm Street is this rooftop array. Field tests were hard to conduct due to it's close proximity to other provider's antennas in nearby buildings. There was a GPS antenna to the left of this picture which I did not get shot of. On 5/16/03 Parris Wood sais: Antenna look like Swedecom antenna. These |
Likely: Verizon Wireless |

On January 11, 2007-2008 Verizon Announced a new Cell Site went active in Manchester. It does not say where it actually is, but the press releases stated "The new site in Manchester provides increased coverage and capacity along Routes 114A, 3, and South Main Street, as well as to western Manchester into Goffstown".
I have been through this stretch of road many times over the recent weeks and have not noticed any chance in service in this area. The closest existing towers to this area are the one at Rt 101 and Rt 3, and the one that is in Bedford along Rt 101 at Chestnut Drive. If someone can confirm or deny this, please let me know!
