Chelmsford Cell Tower

Chelmsford Rt. 3 Cell Tower Picture One

Chelmsford Rt. 3 Cell Tower Picture Two

Built in 2002, a small PCS tower just south of the Drum Hill rotary, just off Rt 3 on the Northbound side.

Both pictures are HORRIBLE. If you strain your eyes in the top picture, behind the center tree, you can see the tower.

The bottom picture is a smidgen' better, but the tower is behind too far away to see in detail.

Sorry !! Better pictures are coming.

Located between Rt 495 and Rt 110 in Chelmsford about a mile south of the new Chelmsford Rt 495 rest areas are these three cell sites. The bottom two pictures show two sites that reside on Kidder Road of Rt 110. The other site is attached to the side of a building (the property seems to be a sand a gravel type place, i didn't get the name when I was there).

The top picture shows all three sites nicely from Rt 110 looking southwest.
THIS ANTENNA HAS BEEN REMOVED!
It's removal was noticed in May 2007.

The 2nd picture shows the T-Mobile array on the side of the building.

The 3rd picture shows the most resent tower to be erected. The carrier is Nextel.

The 4th and final picture shows a monopole with three carriers. I know that Verizon, Cingular, and Sprint PCS are co-located on this monopole.

Chelmsford Downtown Cell Tower Picture Two
Located in downtown Chelmsford, on top of the Town Office building is the rather old array that has been there as long as I remember. I think it's T-Mobile as when I subscribed to Omnipoints' service a number of years back, there was good (as I recall, full meter) signal strength here, but I could be wrong.

Located at the corner of Mill Road and Turnpike Road in Chelmsford, not far from the Rt 3 Exit 29, Route 129 interchange is this large water tower with 4 carriers present.

Verified by viewing the base equipment, T-Mobile, Cingular and Nextel are the carriers present, and Sprint PCS has also been added.

IN-BUILDING REPEATER

In the building where I work is a newly installed Cingular Wireless repeater system. Cingular is the corporate choice for all wireless communications, and the building I'm in was built a in 2001 and was made as an RF "hole". With specialized lead-glass windows to shield all RF in and out of the building, most cell phones don't work at all.

Cingular installed this system in April of 2003 and provided service in all parts of the building by placing ceiling antennas, about two per floor (2 floors total).

The first picture is what the ceiling antennas in the hallways of the building look like. This picture is looking up at it from underneath.

The second picture is the repeater unit itself. You can see the Cingular AMPLIFIER sticker in the bottom right corner, as well as indicators for Power, Uplink Overload, Downlink Overload, and Transmitter On.

The third and fourth pictures are of an RF coupler counted on the wall above the repeater unit which splits the coax so it can rout to the various parts of the building.

The input coax (on the left side of the repeater unit) is attached to a small antenna mounted on a 6 foot mast on top of the building. From that vantage point, it has line of sight to both the Crosspoint building on the Chelmsford / Lowell line as well as the Chelmsford Water Tower at the corner of Mill and Turnpike Roads.

The 5th picture is that of the roof top antenna for the system.
